There are 23 Enterprise Zone Contribution Projects currently designated in Southwest Colorado. The Enterprise Zone Contribution Tax Credit provides a tax credit to Colorado taxpayers that contribute to State approved Enterprise Zone Contribution Projects. Regional enterprise zone administrators work with local nonprofit organizations and government entities on proposed EZ contribution projects with defined timelines and outcomes that improve the economy, create and retain jobs, expand businesses, and have community support.
EZ contribution project types can be approved as a capital campaign and/or for operations and must align with Regional Goals. Also, it must fit into one of these categories: community facility, workforce housing, infrastructure, business assistance, economic development organizations, job training programs, visitor event/attraction, transportation, or healthcare.
To become an approved Enterprise Zone Contribution Project: contact the regional enterprise zone administrator statewide enterprise zone administrators review, advise, and pre-approve EZ contribution project applications for the Colorado Economic Development Commission (EDC) to finalize the EZ project designation, as set forth in the Enterprise Zone Policies
